Forest Hills is a city of two-acre wooded lots between Green Hills and Brentwood, where the houses are big, the trees are bigger and the topography is real. We renovate and add on to the 1960s-to-1990s homes there, build new custom homes where an older house has reached the end, and design outdoor living — terraces, pools, pavilions — into hillsides.
The City of Forest Hills has strict rules on tree removal, lot coverage and stormwater; we design to them from the start. It is ten minutes from downtown Nashville and a regular stop for our crews.

Does Southern Belle Construction work in Forest Hills?
Yes, in Forest Hills we work on the two-acre wooded lots between Green Hills and Brentwood, 8 miles from downtown Nashville, off Tyne Boulevard, Otter Creek Road and Granny White Pike. We’re asked for whole-home renovations, additions, kitchens and baths, custom homes where an older house has had its day, and outdoor living built into the hillside.
How do Forest Hills’ tree, lot coverage and stormwater rules affect a project?
They set the limits the design has to fit. The City of Forest Hills is strict about tree removal, lot coverage and stormwater, and its codes office applies those requirements to permits. We design to them from the first sketch, so the addition or new house you approve already works within them.
What can you do with an aging 1970s house on a Forest Hills lot?
One of two things. If it’s sound, we renovate it and add on where you need room, which is our usual work on Forest Hills homes from the 1960s to the 1990s. If it’s reached the end, we take it down and build a new custom home. We’ll tell you plainly which after the first visit.
Can a pool or terrace work on a sloped, wooded Forest Hills lot?
Yes, if it’s designed into the hillside. Terraces, pools and pavilions set into the slope of a wooded two-acre lot are part of the outdoor living Forest Hills asks us for most, and we lay them out around the grade and the trees. Doug manages the build once the design is settled.
